Ellen Berman

Ellen has had a career spanning the intersection of science, technology, and the arts. She served as President of the Consumer Energy Council of America, one of the nation’s leading public policy organizations, from its founding in 1973 until 2007. Along with producers Jeffrey Richards and Richard Gross, Ms. Berman produced the Tony Award-nominated play Enchanted April, by Matthew Barber; The Compleat Wrks of Shkspr (Abridged); and David Ives’ Mere Mortals.

A graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University, Ms. Berman has been a member of the Council for the Arts at MIT since 1995 and has served on the McDermott Award Committee. She is a past trustee of the Ringling Museum of Art and a current member of the Executive Committee for the Hermitage Artist Retreat in Sarasota, Florida. She has chaired the Sarasota International Design Summit and served on the grants panel of the Sarasota County Arts Council. She has served on the Board of Theater J in Washington, DC She is a member of the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC.

She has nurtured the development of Operation Epsilon through New York readings, a workshop at Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, and a world premiere production at Central Square Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
